Agile project management

The new world of work is characterized as volatile, uncertain, complex and ambivalent, VUCA. This means: uncertainty and insecurity are increasing, old structures and forms of collaboration only work to a limited extent. In view of this development, new agile methods have become established in production and software development. The call for more modern approaches to collaboration is also growing louder in other areas of the economy as well as in science and science management. Do agile methods offer something new, and if so, how exactly can they be applied to management processes, research and development?

Contents of the workshop

This workshop uses concrete examples to show how agile project management can work, what the requirements are and what needs to be considered when introducing it. Approaches such as Design Thinking, Kanban and Scrum are presented and critically reflected upon. The focus is on individual methodological elements that can be integrated into day-to-day work without any major prerequisites. In addition, the possible tense relationship of agility between management responsibility and the greatest possible independence of employees will be examined.

The workshop is intended to help participants recognize the importance of an agile attitude so that agile methods can be used sensibly. It should also serve as a decision-making aid for the selection and use of agile methods in their own work and lead to a gain in knowledge by reflecting on their own practice in an exchange of experiences with colleagues.

This workshop is aimed exclusively at doctoral candidates and postdocs.
