Let go of stress! - Dealing with stress in everyday academic life
Everyday academic life is full of challenges and diverse tasks. At the same time, academics are under pressure to fulfill sometimes conflicting private demands and expectations. Stress is therefore a common phenomenon in the academic world. But what exactly is stress and how can it be effectively counteracted?
Contents of the workshop
This workshop offers a compact introduction to the topic of stress management and uses theoretical knowledge to analyze real stress situations from the participants' everyday academic life. Measures to increase stress competence are then presented and tested in order to effectively deal with everyday challenges on the following levels:
-
Situation level: Identifying personal stress triggers
-
Thought level: Recognizing how your own thoughts influence stress
-
Behavioral level: Analyzing your own behavior in stressful situations
The event provides a first step towards greater awareness of and better handling of stress. The subsequent practice and implementation of the strategies taught in the workshop should contribute to the ability to reflect on one's own stressors in the long term, as well as to a healthier and more balanced working day in order to sustainably increase one's own stress competence.
This workshop is aimed exclusively at doctoral candidates and postdocs.
