New module: Strategic Management & Entrepreneurship
From the summer semester 2026, the Chair of Family Business & Entrepreneurial Orientation will offer the new module Strategic Management & Entrepreneurship (3BWLBA073), consisting of the two courses Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship, for the first time. The module combines strategic thinking with entrepreneurial action in new and established companies. It addresses the central challenges of decision-making in dynamic and uncertain environments and focuses on the development of innovative, scalable and sustainable business models.
The focus is on building long-term competitive advantages, the strategic handling of innovation and the successful implementation and scaling of entrepreneurial activities. The module thus teaches key skills for responsible management and decision-making roles in modern organizations.
Strategic and entrepreneurial thinking in organizations
The Strategic Management & Entrepreneurship module combines strategic analysis with entrepreneurial decision-making logic. They deal with the question of how companies develop viable strategies in dynamic and uncertain environments and systematically exploit entrepreneurial opportunities. The focus is on building sustainable competitive advantages, dealing with innovation and developing and scaling new business models in new and established organizations.
The module combines central theories of strategic management and entrepreneurship with empirical findings and practical case studies. You will analyze external environmental conditions as well as internal resources, competencies and strategic orientations and derive well-founded strategic and entrepreneurial decisions from this.
As part of the module, you will learn how to carry out strategic analyses, develop strategic options and identify and evaluate entrepreneurial opportunities. You will deal with corporate visions, competitive strategies, digital and sustainable business models and apply these concepts in realistic application scenarios.
What you can expect

Strategic analysis and decision-making:
You will learn how to use key analysis tools such as SWOT, PESTEL, Five Forces and industry structure analyses and use them to evaluate strategic scope for action in a structured manner. -
Developing and implementing strategies:
You will deal with different types of strategies and strategic orientations and analyze how strategies are developed, implemented and controlled. -
Resources, skills and competitive advantages:
You will analyse organizational resources and skills and derive sustainable competitive advantages from them, including in the context of digital and sustainable strategies. -
Entrepreneurship and business model development:
You will learn key theories and models of entrepreneurship and apply methods such as Lean Startup, Effectuation and Business Model Canvas to develop and refine business models. -
Innovation, growth and scaling:
You will analyze innovation and technology management in growing companies as well as growth and scaling strategies in different entrepreneurial contexts. -
Practice-oriented specialization:
You will use case studies and practical examples to analyze entrepreneurial decisions and critically reflect on strategic and entrepreneurial approaches.
The Strategic Management & Entrepreneurship module will be offered in the Bachelor of Business Administration for the first time from summer semester 2026. The Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship lectures are each offered with an integrated exercise.
