The Department of Architecture combines teaching, research, and professional practice in an interdisciplinary environment. The focus is on the design of space and built environment, sustainable construction, and responsibility toward society and the environment. Students, faculty, and researchers work together to develop sustainable solutions for the architecture of tomorrow. We view architecture as a cultural mission that combines technology, creativity, and social engagement.

New School of Architecture in Siegen
Under the name“Neue Architekturschule Siegen N_AS,” the department’s efforts—as part of the University of Siegen’s plans to relocate to the city center beginning in 2023—initially involved moving its own academic programs to the so-called“Interim Campus City Center North” and, in the medium term, through the process of transforming the former printing plant of the Siegener Zeitung into a prototypical experimental building exemplifying ecologically and socially sustainable university architecture—thus becoming part of Siegen’s own transformations.
