Bachelor Architecture | Summer semester

We offer the following modules in the summer semester 2026.

BA 30 Vertiefung Membrane_Bild

BA 11.2 - Supporting structure

Module BA 11.2 - Supporting Structures focuses on the advanced design of supporting structures. To expand the general repertoire, linear structures of varying complexity, such as cables, arches and beams, are presented and explained in a structured manner and applied in subsequent exercises.

Contents

  • Linear structures
  • Cable and arch structures
  • Single-span and multi-span beams

Membrane

BA 30 - specialization | MA 10 - elective module

Membranes are materials subject to tensile stress that consist of thin textiles or films and enable short construction times and quick installation. They are used, for example, for large-scale roofing, tents or façades. Thanks to its flexibility, the membrane adapts to different boundary conditions and deforms depending on the load.

In the module BA 30 - Advanced Membrane | MA 10 - Elective Module Membrane, these materials are first explained in a theoretical part, the structural boundary conditions are analyzed and the possible applications are examined using built examples.

In the practical part, the task is to design different membrane constructions and implement them in a model. This is followed by documentation. The aim of the elective module is to understand the membrane as a constructive element and to obtain a further possibility in the design through practical implementation.

Contents
