  • The student has basic knowledge of the practical implementation of numerical methods in civil engineering.
  • The student has knowledge of the most important subject areas of the general use of EDP.
  • The student is able to use the computer as an aid for basic tasks of study and practice.
  • The student is able to convert technical and scientific documentation into text documents or presentations.
  • The student is able to independently acquire in-depth knowledge in the subject areas covered.

  • Introduction to spreadsheets (MS Excel): Creation of applications for civil engineering
    • Basics, statistical evaluations
    • Matrix formulas, linear systems of equations
    • Numerical differentiation and integration, numerical determination of zeros
    • Iteration of non-linear systems, optimization (solver)
    • Diagrams, interactive applications
  • Introduction to programming with VBA
  • Introduction to database technology
  • Presentation and documentation
    • Graphical representation using GNUPlot
    • Introduction to graphics and image processing technology
    • Creating structured text documents (MS Word), integrating formulas, diagrams and tables
    • Introduction to presentation technology (MS PowerPoint)
  • Introduction to CAD

  • Written exam, 180 minutes

  • Formal
    • The prerequisite for participation in the examination is passing the coursework in this module.
