Here's how to enroll in a degree program at the University of Siegen

Register on our online portal, unisono
Sign up on our online portal, unisono, in just a few steps so you can complete your application or enrollment and upload your documents there.
If you’re already studying in Siegen, all you need to do is log in to submit your application or transfer request.
Complete registration—and then what?
Please notify your health insurance provider that you plan to begin your studies at the University of Siegen. If you have private health insurance, apply to a public health insurance provider to be exempted from the mandatory insurance requirement. The university identification number for the University of Siegen is H0000671. Doctoral students and students in the “Brücken ins Studium” program do not need to notify their health insurance provider that they are beginning their studies.
After uploading all required documents:
To submit all documents at once in unisono, click the “Submit Documents” button and confirm the text in the pop-up window by clicking “Yes.” The application and the uploaded documents will be reviewed by the University of Siegen. Changes to the uploads and additional uploads are only possible after the review. You will be informed via email about the next steps.
If you need to upload documents in stages over time, you can do so after uploading by clicking the “Save changes temporarily” button. The documents will not be reviewed yet, and the application will not be processed yet!
Once all required documents have been submitted in full and your health insurance provider has electronically confirmed your insurance status to us, you’ll receive a welcome email within the next few days containing important information and a payment request for the semester fee. Please transfer the amount immediately, as enrollment cannot be finalized until your payment has been received by the University of Siegen.
If any documents are missing or incorrect, you will be asked via email to upload the missing or correct documents. In individual cases, the Student Affairs Office may request certified copies or original documents.
Once enrollment is complete (payment of the semester fee), you will receive an email with information about your student email address, the Deutschland-Semesterticket, and your student and university library ID cards. Starting in September (for the winter semester) or March (for the summer semester), you’ll receive an activation code for your Germany Semester Ticket from VWS (Verkehrsgemeinschaft Westfalen Süd) at your student email address; you’ll need to activate the ticket in advance.

If you are no longer interested in your place at the university, please notify your advisor at the Student Affairs Office via email.
What documents do you need?
For the following degree programs, you will need to submit additional documents:
- Media Studies: Submit your internship certificate tothe Internship Office of Faculty I and email the confirmation to your advisor at the Student Affairs Office by September 30.
- Architecture: Proof of passing theaptitude test and proof of completion of the mandatory internship must be submitted to the Department of Architecture office (PB-A 024) no later than October 1, before beginning your studies.
- Teacher Education Programs:
•Art andMusic: Proof of passing the aptitude test
• Physical Education (DSHS): Certificate of enrollment from the German Sport University Cologne
• Spanish: Spanish proficiency at the Abitur level—verified by the grade on your Abitur transcript. If you cannot demonstrate proficiency in Spanish through your Abitur transcript, you must take a Spanish test. Please contact Ms. Balada Rosa (Phone: 0271/740-2202, Email: balada-rosa@romanistik.uni-siegen.de). - European Business Communication: Proof of language proficiency in French and English at level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (if not demonstrated by the high school diploma).
- Dual Degree Program: Additionally, a copy of the employment contract

I am currently enrolled or have previously been enrolled at a university and would like to enroll at the University of Siegen (change of degree program, transition to a master's program, or doctoral studies)
- Form“Additional Information for Enrollment” (also available in unisono)
- Proof of the type and duration of previous studies (degree programs/majors/semenes of leave). This can be provided through academic transcripts or certificates of enrollment if it is not already indicated on the certificate of withdrawal. Transcripts of records are not accepted.
- If available, proof of all previous degrees must be provided (e.g., Bachelor’s or Master’s diplomas and certificates)
- Certificates of withdrawal from all universities previously attended
- Media Studies: Submit the internship certificate tothe Internship Office of Faculty I and email the confirmation to your advisor at the Student Affairs Office by September 30.

- Master’s program: Admission to the Master’s program; proof of completion of the undergraduate degree (e.g., Bachelor’s diploma and certificate) may be submitted later by November 30 (winter semester) / May 31 (summer semester)*
- Doctoral program: Admission by the doctoral committee (for enrollment purposes, a conditional acceptance based on a commitment to supervision is accepted; proof of admission must then be submitted within the first semester*)
*If the required documentation is not submitted by the deadline, enrollment will be revoked.

- If continuing studies in the same or a related degree program: A certificate from your previous institution confirming that, in the relevant program or in programs where the same exam or credit requirement is mandatory, you have not definitively failed any exam or credit requirement specified in the examination regulations.
