Forms of Festive Folly in William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night

The English Department cordially invites you all to attend the Guest Lecture by Dr. Martin Riedelsheimer

"Forms of Festive Folly in William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night"

  • on Monday, July 14, 2025
  • from 4 - 6 pm
  • in room AR-H 103.

In his talk, Forms of Festive Folly in Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, Dr Martin Riedelsheimer will focus on the fool Feste in Shakespeare’s comedy and discuss meta-theatrical phenomena, in particular the idea that the character Feste plays the character Feste. Riedelsheimer will thus explore one of Shakespeare’s most complex characters with an eye to early modern stage conventions. He will also tap into contemporary concerns about representation, authenticity, and trust.
