Funding Opportunities Related to Gender Equality

Funding for gender equality projects and transitional funding for early-career female researchers

Projects promoting gender equality have been funded at the University of Siegen since 1997. The funds provided by the university are to be allocated annually through a competitive application process as part of an incentive system.

In addition, since 2009, transitional funding has been awarded to female doctoral candidates, postdoctoral researchers, and researchers pursuing a habilitation who are applying for a fellowship or who are only a few months away from completing their qualifications.

The calls for proposals for project funding and transitional funding are published here at the end of each calendar year.

Other internal and external Scholarships and Financial Aid Opportunities

Since January 2008, the Studienförderfonds Siegen e.V. has been awarding scholarships in the amount of €2,500. The scholarships are awarded for a period of one year. Half of the scholarships are awarded to students with particularly strong academic performance, while the other
half are awarded to students in particular need (provided they are eligible for BAföG) who have good academic performance. After the year of financial support, students are expected to transition into employment as student assistants whenever possible.

Further information can be found here.

The HYT Young Academy is a support program designed to help students launch their academic careers at the University of Siegen. It provides support to outstanding doctoral candidates who are ready to begin their dissertation projects.
Scholarships are announced twice a year (usually in early May and early November).

The University of Siegen offers a diverse, targeted range of support programs for researchers at all career stages. Core programs support both entry into research and the further development of established projects—in a flexible, transparent, and tailored manner.
