Focused Partners

Toward Strategic Partnerships

Fokussierte Partner

Concept and Goal

To advance the internationalization of the University of Siegen in a more targeted manner, the goal is to establish a small number of strategic partners with whom the university will cooperate more intensively at all levels—that is, in exchange programs, teaching, and research. As part of the process of selecting strategic partners, the Senate Commission for International Affairs and Lifelong Learning initially identified and approached a somewhat larger number of potential partners.
Of particular importance here are regional distribution and the existence of pre-existing contacts in teaching or research across as many Schools and disciplines as possible.

Pilot Phase

The focused partnerships are initially scheduled to run through 2027; following an evaluation, it may then be possible to define particularly close, strategic partnerships from among them. The focus of these partnerships is closer collaboration in all areas, i.e., research, teaching, and student and staff mobility. This also includes providing special, prioritized support for guests and allocating specific funding.

Individual partnerships, of course, remain unaffected by this and can still be established

Comenius International Partnership Program

To promote internationalization, the University of Siegen has established the Comenius International Partnership Program. This program provides funding for research stays, trips aimed at establishing or strengthening cooperation, and other projects. Applications focusing on Focused Partners may receive preferential consideration.
