Information from the BASA practice office/department by topic

Current information from the Practice Office is provided via Moodle and is structured thematically here:

On November 13, 2025, the SOCIALCon practice fair will once again take place at the University of Siegen. All social work students are cordially invited to find out about the wide range of institutions and services in the various fields of social work and to make contact with regard to the practical phases or job search.

Praxismesse SOCIALCon 2025

First semester students are informed about the internships during their studies as part of the introductory module - lecture series " Perspectives on Social Work". Further up-to-date information is provided via Moodle.

The currently valid brochure on the practical phases is distributed in the lecture series "Perspectives on Social Work". The brochure contains binding information on all matters relevant to the internship.

The compulsory internships of the Bachelor's degree program in Social Work are currently not registered via unisono. Before or at the beginning of the internship, pages 1 and 2 of the form must be completed with the internship site and approved by the lecturer in the methods seminar of the summer semester. After the internship, the originals of all 4 pages must be submitted to the internship office.

There is a checklist to help you organize your internships and the associated events/study achievements. Please also take a look at the page with the example of the first internship.

The recommended time for internships is the lecture-free period between the summer and winter semesters! However, the period can be varied according to your own time possibilities and the requirements of the internships within the following options:

  • A maximum of 20 out of a total of 50 practical days can be completed in the lecture-free period of the winter semester before the start of the courses in the summer semester (in module elements 11.2/12.2).
  • The remaining 30 practical days may only be completed at the start of the associated methods seminar in the summer semester. Please note: This start date may differ from the regular start of lectures!
  • At least 25 practical days must have been completed by the time of the reflection seminar in 11.3 or 12.3. In addition, the entire internship must be completed by the end of the lecture period in the winter semester!
  • The periods are listed in the

form for practical phase I on page 1. The

    checklist.

For approval of the internship in the early version, please contact the internship office/department (Ms. Szauer or Ms. Wilden) before starting the internship!

Submission of all 4 pages of the form Pflichtpraktikum nach dem Praktikum in the original with the signatures by mail or drop in the red mailbox of the Praxisamt on the corridor AR-K 100 . Copies will not be processed. Altered forms (Tipp-Ex, overwriting or similar) may be requested again.

You must make a copy of the form for your own records before submitting it.

  • Internships and internship-related courses completed at other universities in social work degree programs are considered coursework within the meaning of the framework examination regulations for the Bachelor's degree program at the University of Siegen in conjunction with the subject examination regulations in the currently valid version. The

    Application for recognition
must be submitted to the Practice Office/department.
  • In accordance with the decision of the Practice Committee, the training as a state-recognized educator is credited to the internship in Module 11 to the extent of 50 days. The accompanying university courses must still be attended.

Internships or other practical experience, such as a voluntary social year, completed outside of a relevant Bachelor's degree in Social Work cannot be credited.

With the Bachelor's degree in Social Work (PO 2018, FPO 2020 and 2024), state recognition can be applied for in accordance with the applicable regulations .

Bachelor's thesis supervisors will be contacted by the Practice Office around the middle/end of the processing period with information on how to apply for state recognition. Attached to this letter is an application form as well as a pre-prepared letter for applying for a so-called extended certificate of good conduct. The certificate of good conduct is valid for 3 months, so a good time to apply is when the Bachelor's thesis has been submitted. This certificate of good conduct is sent directly to the Praxisamt by the authorities. The completed application must only be sent to the Praxisamt in the original after the degree recorded in unisono.

If you have any further questions, please contact the practice office/department. We will be happy to advise you!
