Airports

Frankfurt am Main Airport (FRA)
Students arriving by plane at Frankfurt am Main Airport (FRA) take the S-Bahn to Frankfurt Central Station, which departs from the station in Terminal 1. There are regular train connections from Frankfurt main station to Siegen. Please note that you sometimes have to change trains in Gießen.
There are also long-distance buses to Siegen from Frankfurt Airport and Frankfurt Central Station.

Cologne/Bonn Airport (CGN)
Students arriving at Cologne/Bonn Airport (CGN) take a regional train to Troisdorf or Cologne Central Station and then change to the train to Siegen.
Long-distance buses also travel from Cologne/Bonn Airport and Cologne Central Station to Siegen.

Düsseldorf Airport (DUS)
Students arriving at Düsseldorf Airport (DUS) take the train to Hagen or Cologne Central Station and then change to the train to Siegen.
Long-distance buses also travel from Düsseldorf Airport and Düsseldorf Central Station to Siegen.

Rail connection

Siegen main station is easily accessible from the main airports. You can buy tickets at the station (ticket counter or ticket machine) or online in advance. Payment options, departure times and train arrivals can be found on the Deutsche Bahn website.

Long-distance buses

In addition to train connections, there are several long-distance buses that usually depart from or near regional airports and/or train stations. Ticket prices can vary depending on the provider, day of the week and available seats. The bus stop in Siegen is located near the Siegen train station at Koblenzer Str. 43. Bus routes in Siegen

You can easily reach all locations of the University of Siegen with the city buses. Several bus lines connect our campuses in Siegen and Siegen-Weidenau.
Please note that buses only stop at certain bus stops and you cannot get off the bus between stops. Before you receive your Semester-/Deutschlandticket, you must buy bus tickets from the bus driver (one-way ticket, day ticket, weekly ticket).

Bus connections to the university

The Adolf-Reichwein-Straße (AR), Hölderlinstraße (H) and Paul-Bonatz-Campus (PB) campuses are located in Siegen-Weidenau on Haardter Berg.
The Emmy-Noether-Campus (ENC) is located in Siegen on Fischbacher Berg. The Unteres Schloss (US) campus is located in the city center, as is the International Office building, the Language Center and Student Services (F-S).

City bus lines

Two city bus lines (C) connect the Siegen bus station (Siegen ZOB ) or the Weidenau bus station (Weidenau ZOB ) with the campus during the lecture period and the lecture-free period:

C106: Siegen ZOB - Engsbachstr.- Weidenau ZOB - AR (Adolf-Reichwein-Str.) (On weekends only to Weidenau ZOB!)
C111: Siegen ZOB - Weidenau ZOB - AR (University Robert-Schuhmann-Str.)

During the lecture period, additional Uni-Express buses (UX) run between the train stations and the university locations:

Deutschlandticket

Students of the University of Siegen receive a semester ticket / Deutschlandticket after enrollment. To do this, the VWS app must be downloaded and activated with a code. Students will receive the code to their student e-mail address after successful enrollment. You can find more information about the ticket here.

The city of Siegen will reimburse students who register their main residence in Siegen after their arrival with a one-off payment for the semester ticket. Information on this can be obtained from the AStA.

Area of coverage

Throughout the semester, you can use the Deutschlandticket throughout Germany on city buses and regional buses, streetcars and suburban trains as well as subway trains, regional trains (RB) and regional express trains (RE). Long-distance buses, InterCity (IC) and InterCityExpress (ICE) cannot be used with the ticket.

Please note that you must still carry a photo ID with you. The ticket is only valid together with an identity card or passport.
