Alumni in Conversation: Yannik Brücher

He is the master of documents and images. Yellowed papers, black-and-white photos. All these things—but also all the people who tell stories of the past—fascinate Yannick Brücher. He has been working as an archivist for the municipality of Finnentrop since 2019. From 2015 to 2019, he studied history at the University of Siegen, minoring in “Europe in Global Change.” Preserving documents, memories, and mementos of the people in the region has truly captivated the 28-year-old from Plettenberg. The historian feels right at home in the archive.

. The historian feels right at home in the archive. In a dim basement office, surrounded by dusty files, sits the archivist—pale, alone, and a bit eccentric. Did I miss any clichés?

BRÜCHER I’m familiar with those descriptions, of course! (laughs)
