Conference: “Data Protection – A Transatlantic Dialogue”
The Institute for Media and Communications Law (IMKR) at the University of Siegen, in cooperation with the German-American Lawyers’ Association (DAJV), invites you to the 9th International Media Law Forum (IMLF) on May 18, 2017, at 7:00 p.m. on the topic “Data Protection – A Transatlantic Dialogue” in Room US-A 120.
Prof. Dr. Felix Wu, AB (Harvard), Ph.D. (Berkeley), J.D. (Berkeley), of the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York, will travel from the U.S. to Siegen for the event. He will discuss the differences, as well as the potential for convergence, presented by the new EU General Data Protection Regulation and U.S. data protection law. Following this, Julie Wahrendorf, LL.M., of the legal department of Google Germany, will discuss the “right to be forgotten,” which has been of central importance for search engine operators since the European Court of Justice’s ruling in Google Spain. The evening will conclude with drinks and snacks, courtesy of the DAJV.
