Consulting on the Reform of the Vietnamese Civil Code

As part of the German-Vietnamese Rule of Law Dialogue, Prof. Rösler held consultations in Hanoi and Ha Long City during Holy Week 2014 on the reform of the Vietnamese Civil Code and land law.

The primary goal was to establish a more systematic structure and more consistent terminology for the Vietnamese Civil Code. Prof. Rösler, who was invited as an expert from the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), also provided advice on land law reform. Currently, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam does not recognize ownership of land, but only grants limited-term, registered rights of use, which hinders legally secure investment in the country. Further consultations on these comprehensive reform efforts are planned.
