Digital Tools for Students with Disabilities: Survey

The goal of a survey conducted by the Competence Center for Digital Accessibility in North Rhine-Westphalia is to learn more about how students with diverse needs experience their studies, which digital tools, apps, or assistive technologies support them in their daily academic lives, and what kind of support is currently lacking. The survey will remain open until July 31, 2026.

Survey on Digital Tools and Assistive Technologies in Higher Education

The survey takes about 10–15 minutes to complete. It is aimed at students with disabilities or chronic illnesses and examines how assistive technologies are used in their studies.

Who can participate?

All students enrolled in the summer semester of 2026 who feel that their studies are made more difficult by a disability are eligible to participate. It does not matter whether they have a recognized disability or diagnosis. Chronic illnesses, mental health challenges, neurodivergence, or other factors that make studying difficult may also play a role.

Benefits of the Results

The survey results are intended to help further develop support services for students and provide targeted advice to universities in North Rhine-Westphalia on making their academic programs and teaching accessible.
