German Educational Media Award "digita": Dr. Monika Becker involved in successful multimedia textbook
The winner in the category "Vocational training and studies: study section" is the multimedia textbook "Career Express Business English" from Cornelsen Verlag due to its exceptional quality. The text explaining the award states, among other things: "The dovetailing of contact teaching, offline and online learning corresponds with the successful, media-adequate linking of all components of this multi-media system comprising textbook, teacher's book with DVD and online 'digital work-book'." The award is sponsored by the IBI - Institute for Education in the Information Society at the TU Berlin, Intel GmbH and Stiftung Lesen.
Dr. Monika Becker, a university lecturer in foreign languages from Siegen, was one of three advisors involved in the project alongside the two authors Jane Maier-Fairclough and Gerlinde Butzphal. The "Career Express Business English" consists of two volumes and the corresponding lecturer handbooks. Volume B2 was published in 2011 and was designed for Bachelor students in the field of economics. The C1 volume was published for the winter semester 2011/2012 and is aimed primarily at students on Master's degree courses in the field. With the books, audio CDs and an accompanying website, a multimedia offer was created for different types of learners.
Dr. Monika Becker from Hachenburg studied translation and interpreting as well as business administration and has been working as a lecturer for English and French at the University of Siegen for seven years. She contributed to the Cornelsen educational publishing house's project with her wide-ranging experience, particularly in language teaching. The development of the offer for students and teachers began two and a half years ago and was honored in 2010 with the Comenius EduMedia award, which is given for high-quality multimedia educational media.
