Lars Maczey, PhD student of Prof. Ivor Fleck, has been awarded the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Prize 2025 for the best Master's thesis. His master's thesis entitled "Hardware Characterization for the Construction of a Compton Camera Prototype" convinced the jury with its high application potential and great practical relevance. Lars Maczey completed his Master's degree in Physics at the University of Siegen with the top grade of 1.0 and is working on his doctorate in Prof. Ivor Fleck's research group. He is continuing his research on the development of a Compton Camera, which is intended to open up a new area in medical imaging. One area of application is the measurement of dose distribution in an innovative form of targeted cancer treatment using a radioactive isotope of the element actinium, which is primarily used for advanced prostate cancer and leukemia.
