Invitation to the IMKR Lecture on Ad Blockers by Prof. Alexander

At the invitation of the IMKR, Prof. Dr. Christian Alexander (Jena) will speak on December 13, 2017, about ad blockers on websites.

At the invitation of the Institute for Media and Communications Law (IMKR), Prof. Dr. Christian Alexander, Friedrich Schiller University of Jena, will give a lecture on “Ad Blockers on Websites—Competitive or Anti-Competitive?” on December 13, 2017, at 7:30 p.m. in Room US-A 120. All interested students, staff, and guests are cordially invited to attend this lecture.

The lecture will address the business models of ad blockers, which deprive companies and website operators of profitable advertising opportunities while simultaneously protecting Internet users from a flood of ads and pop-ups. A particularly contentious issue is the display of selected advertisements by the ad-block operators themselves, who have previously received payment for enabling them.

In his lecture, Prof. Alexander will examine the legal debate surrounding such ad blockers, focusing in particular on constitutional law, unfair competition law, and media law.

Following the lecture, the IMKR invites attendees to drinks and snacks.
