Several degree programs at the University of Siegen start in a new form
Continuous development of the range of courses
Enrolment for the winter semester 2025/26 is currently underway at the University of Siegen - prospective students have until 12 October to register for admission-free courses. At the start of the semester, three degree courses will be freshly modernized: The university has redesigned and profiled the Bachelor's degree courses "German and European Business Law" and "Civil Engineering" as well as the Master's degree course "Linguistics: digital, applied, structural (LiDAS)". The Bachelor's degree course in Business Administration is also being further developed and will start in the summer semester of 2026 with a new content focus.
"We are continuously working on further developing our range of courses. Through new degree programs, but also by updating the content of traditional and popular degree programs - which is why the Schools, accompanied by the Siegen Quality Center, have set up several new degree programs," says Prof. Dr. Hans Merzendorfer, Prorectors for Studies, Teaching and Quality Management.
The Bachelor's degree course in German and European Business Law combines a focus on law with minor subjects, particularly in business administration. A new addition is the subject area 'Civil Society Engagement', which strengthens personal development and social skills. The Bachelor's degree in Law combines an undergraduate education with the opportunity to choose subjects of particular practical relevance (especially corporate law and now also digital law). In future, these two forward-looking subjects will be supplemented in the Master's degree by a further specialization option in the field of sustainability.
In future, the Bachelor's degree course in Civil Engineering can also be studied part-time, as is already the case with the Master's degree. To this end, the timetables have been restructured so that students can come to university either on Monday and Tuesday or from Wednesday to Friday. This gives students the opportunity to flexibly adapt their studies to their life situation - whether alongside work, with family responsibilities, caring responsibilities or other individual requirements. However, the offer is also aimed specifically at employers: for many years now, future specialists have been successfully trained in theory and practice together in the integrated dual study program. With the new part-time offer, employers can develop similar models - without training, but with more practical experience in the company. Such models offer students reliable planning and financial security during their studies.
The Master's degree course "Linguistics: digital, applied, structural (LiDAS)" is a real innovation: In future, it can also be completed as a Franco-German "double degree" course. Together with the Université d'Orléans, participants will study in a binational cohort, alternating between Siegen and Orléans - and at the end of the course, they will earn two Master's degrees.
The Bachelor's degree course in Business Administration is a classic at the university - it is also currently being further developed and will start in the summer semester of 2026 with a new future-oriented profile that optimally prepares students for responsible tasks in business, society or research. The Business Administration BA will have three clear areas of focus in the future: Entrepreneurship with a special focus on innovative business models and digital and technology-driven change ("Entrepreneurship and Innovation"), an integrated understanding of strategic management in marketing, media and human resources and organization ("Strategic Management") as well as in-depth knowledge of finance, accounting, controlling and taxation ("Finance, Accounting, Controlling & Taxation - FACT") - always with a strong practical focus and academic depth.
Applications for numerous Master's degree programs at the University of Siegen are still possible until September 30, 2025.
