Successful start for the new "Faculty Club"

André Zeppenfeld

At the University of Siegen, the Rectorate's new format combines academic exchange with collegial cooperation and promotes dialog across disciplinary boundaries.

With the "Faculty Club", the Rectorate of the University of Siegen has launched an event that combines academic exchange with collegial interaction. The aim is to regularly bring together researchers and employees from all Schools and the administration in a relaxed atmosphere - across disciplinary boundaries, with exciting impulses and space for new ideas.

The launch of the new format on 28 October in the Seminar Center on the Lower Castle Campus was a complete success: more than 60 participants came to the first meeting to exchange ideas and network over finger food, coffee and drinks. Rector Prof. Dr. Stefanie Reese and Vice-Rector Petra M. Vogel were very pleased with the start: "We are delighted with the great interest and open exchange at the first Faculty Club. The format shows how lively and diverse our university is when people from different areas come together to talk. We want to continue and further promote this."

Prof. Dr. Michael Möller (Schools IV) provided the content-related impetus with his presentation on the topic of "Artificial Intelligence". He gave a vivid insight into the technology behind the major language models such as ChatGPT. Prof. Möller impressively demonstrated how artificial intelligence generates answers - and what this can mean for our perception and society.

In future, the Faculty Club will take place regularly at different locations and establish itself as a permanent platform for interdisciplinary exchange at the University of Siegen. This will allow new ideas and connections to emerge.
