Prof. Dr. Gunnar Stevens

Prof. Dr. Gunnar Stevens is Professor of Business Information Systems with a focus on IT security and consumer informatics at the University of Siegen. At the chair, he researches user-centered IT security and data protection with the aim of strengthening the digital sovereignty of citizens. His research focuses on consumer informatics and usable privacy and security. In numerous nationally funded projects, including AntiScam, BeDeNUTZ, SAM-Smart and CheckMyVA, he investigates how security risks can be communicated in an understandable way, transparent system architectures can be designed and privacy-by-design principles can be integrated into digital technologies. Since 2024, he has been a member of the Academic Advisory Board of the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) on the topic of digital data protection.
