International cooperation of the Schools
An international network of university partnerships opens up new perspectives for the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, strengthens research and teaching and enables students to spend valuable time abroad. In this way, it promotes intercultural exchange, academic collaboration and the visibility of the Schools in a global context.

Cooperation in Europe
The Faculty of Arts and Humanities has a large number of international partnerships in Europe. The mobility of students, lecturers and administrative staff is facilitated and promoted within these partnerships as part of the Erasmus + program.
Via the database
of International Student Affairs you can also obtain further information on the cooperations at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and the University of Siegen as a whole.
If you have any questions about setting up new Erasmus partnerships, please contact the phil: International Affairs team.
Worldwide partnerships
A network of international mobility, research and teaching also exists with educational institutions worldwide. A list of these international partnerships can be found here.
The following process steps must be taken into account when establishing global partnerships:
- Information about the intention to cooperate is submitted to the Vice Dean for International Affairs of the Schools.
- Coordination of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the foreign university. The MoU is an initial declaration of intent. If a student exchange is intended, a "Cooperation Agreement" should be concluded in addition to the MoU, which regulates the details of the exchange. A legally verified template for a MoU and a Cooperation Agreement can be obtained from the International Office. The cooperation should be supervised by a professor.
- Legal review of the MoU and the Cooperation Agreement (in the event that changes have been made)
- Coordination of the documents in the International Affairs Committee of the Schools
- Coordination of the MoU and the Cooperation Agreement in the Faculty Council
- Signing of the MoU and the Cooperation Agreement by both universities
You can obtain the following document templates from the phil: International Affairs office:
- Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)
- Checklist for export control for contract/cooperation
