Psychological test library

The Testothek of the Department of Psychology provides diagnostic instruments that can potentially be used for teaching or research.

Tests are provided from the following areas in particular:

  • Intelligence tests for children, adolescents and adults
  • Achievement tests for children and adults
  • Personality tests for children, adolescents and adults
  • Development tests (general development, language, perception, cognitive functions, motor skills)
  • School tests (school readiness, school performance, social behavior)
  • Clinical procedures (children, adults and adolescents)

Psychological tests are stored

  • in a central repository in the Testothek,
  • in an archive with older or rarely requested procedures and
  • in the personal portfolios of the individual lecturers in psychology with the procedures they frequently use.
Rules for borrowing psychological tests

Since the use of tests requires not only knowledge of test theory but also knowledge of the meaning of the psychological dimensions to be measured in order to handle the test procedures responsibly in accordance with the ethical guidelines of the German Psychological Association, psychological tests are only lent to psychology students or persons with a degree in psychology.

If non-psychologists are interested in psychological tests, it is recommended that they contact a member of the Department of Psychology for expert advice. After a detailed consultation, psychological tests can also be lent to non-psychologists under certain circumstances, but please note that the Testothek staff cannot provide advice on test selection.

Note for students of Schools II outside of Psychology: Test procedures can only be borrowed as part of a course and only if your lecturers have agreed to this and take responsibility for the loan. Please discuss this with your lecturers beforehand.

Notes on the use of psychological tests

Like any other work, psychological tests are subject to a license. In particular, the test procedures may not be reproduced (e.g. for use in research). Separate licenses must be purchased for this purpose. Please note the information on open access test methods at the bottom of the page.

Lecturers please note the DGP's information on the use of test procedures in teaching.

The borrower is responsible for compliance with the licenses and is particularly responsible for test protection.
