International Quality Management
The International Affairs Division reports to the Prorectorate for Young Researchers, Diversity, and International Affairs and is guided by the University of Siegen’sinternationalization strategy, “.”
Units
At the central level, the division is anchored both inthe International Office(IO) (acting director: Dr. Nina Fenn) and in the STARTING department of the Student Services Division (director: Philipp Schmidt). The STARTING Division is responsible for the application, admission, and enrollment of international students, as well as for preparatory German language courses. The International Office provides advice on international projects (Erasmus+, DAAD) and serves as the point of contact for all matters related to cooperation agreements, the stays of international exchange and degree-seeking students, and mobility for all student categories. The Welcome Center for International Researchers is also available here for researchers.
Division of Responsibilities
The division of responsibilities between the International Office and the Schools (as well as several other units particularly relevant in this context) is outlined in a catalog of services, which is continuously updated.
To develop and ensure the quality objectives for international affairs established in the various areas, the Prorectorates hold regular meetings with university and regional units. The results and any outstanding issues from these discussions are forwarded to the relevant Senate committee. Problems that cannot be resolved within the described system are ultimately referred to the QM Steering Committee.
