Your future begins in Siegen
In the elective course “Play and Games Studies,” you’ll gain a hands-on understanding of the history, aesthetics, and theories of play and games. In seminars, we analyze analog and digital games. We examine how games give rise to distinct (sub)cultures and what functions games fulfill in our society. This encompasses a wide range of areas: games as a medium of entertainment, as a tool for learning, as an economic factor, and many more.
Through initiatives such as the student-run game initiative USK57, you’ll have the opportunity to engage with games throughout your studies.
Career Prospects
The supplementary major in Play and Games Studies will enable you to analyze everything related to games and navigate with confidence the corresponding economic, educational, and cultural fields. This prepares you, for example, to work in the games industry, in games journalism, in youth work or adult education, at cultural institutions, or in academia (with a master’s degree).
The supplementary subject can only be selected in conjunction with a major in Study Models B and D of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities!
