Your future begins in Siegen
The aim of the Master's degree program in Social Work is to acquire sound specialist knowledge and skills for activities in the areas of management, planning and development in socio-educational fields of work. The Master's degree program also opens up further opportunities for a scientific academic career (social pedagogical doctorate following the Master's degree). The broad academic perspective is to be deepened in one of three focus areas - "Challenges in child and youth welfare", "Participation of people with disabilities" or "Social work and crime". This should enable graduates to develop a (customizable) socio-educational profile.

Career prospects
Although the Bachelor's degree in social work and the associated state recognition as a social pedagogue is regarded as the standard qualification in social work, relevant studies indicate that an individual combination of higher qualifications (Master's degree), specific further training and practical experience can further increase career opportunities in social work. The Master's degree also opens up further professional fields, for example in science.

Examination regulations/study plans/module handbooks/internship regulations
Examination regulations (POs) define the basic structures of a degree program (e.g. admission requirements and content to be studied). Students are automatically subject to the current version of a PO when they enrol for their first semester. This means that even if the PO changes during the course of studies, the original version according to which you enrolled is still valid (provided this PO does not expire).
The respective study plan represents the recommended exemplary course of studies in the individual subjects and is part of a PO.
Supplementary regulations and detailed information for each module to be studied can be found in the module handbooks (e.g. requirements for taking a written examination or information on the content of the modules/courses, ...).
Before the start of the lecture period, we recommend that you at least take a look at the study plan for your degree program so that you know which modules are planned for the start of your studies. Frequently asked questions and answers can be found in the FAQs for the Master's degree program in (Education and) Social Work (https://www.bildung.uni-siegen.de/biso/wissenschaftliche_koordination/faq_master.html). There you will also find the contact persons for your specific questions.
