Enrollment as an International PhD Candidate
Would you like to enrol as an international doctoral candidate at the University of Siegen? Here you will find important information on the enrollment process and the required documents.
The most important facts at a glance
As an international doctoral student, you have the opportunity to register as a student at the university. Even though this is not mandatory at most Schools, it has various advantages:
Advantages as a student:
- Receive a Germany semester ticket: free use of public transport (except ICE/IC).
- Possibility to apply for a room in the student residence of the Studierendenwerk
- Reduced prices in the canteen and cafeteria
- Some cultural events and cultural venues have reduced prices for students

To enrol as a student, you must register in unisono
register.
Important: The unisono portal for enrollment is always open for the following semester from February or August. You can find the exact dates here. This means that you can also register as a doctoral student before your arrival if your arrival date is in the relevant semester.
