Video conferencing system

DFNconf allows smaller video conferences to be held with up to 23 participants.

To support general communication and collaboration, the University of Siegen provides the video conferencing solution DFNconf of the German Research Network DFN.

Requirements

Active ZIMT account
(university user ID with corresponding password)

Webcam / microphone

Please note

Students cannot administratively start a video conference via DFNconf!

Preferably use the Google Chrome browser. Firefox and Safari work with a loss of quality.
Internet Explorer or Microsoft Edge browsers are explicitly not suitable!
No use via Citrix or similar possible!

The streaming function in DFNconf is available for events with a large number of participants.

This only needs to be activated in the DFNconf portal for the respective conference room. A link to the streaming portal will then appear, which will be distributed to the participants.

During the video conference, streaming can then be activated at the bottom right of the screen (cloud symbol). A recording is always made during streaming. This means that the streaming participants can see and hear the event (including the screen presentation).

A chat function is available for questions from participants.
Please also note the following points:

Meeting participants must be informed about the recording before it begins.
In addition to the right to one's own image, organizers must also take into account copyrights (e.g. for presentations), as well as any contractual restrictions (e.g. non-disclosure clauses) and local service instructions of their home institution.
