Etherpad is a web-based text editor that allows several people to edit a document simultaneously and in real time, similar to Google Docs, but as an open source solution. Each contributor is given their own color to distinguish their contributions. There is a chat function as well as a version history to track changes, making it ideal for group work, note taking, brainstorming and collaborative text development.
The product is freely available on the web and can be used free of charge (at least in a basic version).
Features
- Simultaneous editing of a text document
- Changes are immediately visible to all participants
- Color differentiation of all co-writers
- Data import (text or HTML formats)
- Data export (Etherpad, HTML, text file, Markdown)
