Prepare course
To activate this function in your Moodle course, add the "Videos" block in edit mode on the start page (you may need to activate the block bar on the right-hand side by clicking on the arrow symbol " " ).
Upload and provide video
After creating the block, select "Add video".
You will find all available videos in the following overview. These can be integrated into the course overview via the icon in the "Provide" column.
New videos are uploaded via the "Add video" button.
Providing videos in the course
After uploading, the videos are processed. These are recalculated in various resolutions. If necessary, a scene recognition or automatic subtitling takes place. Successful processing is indicated by the green tick in the "Status" column.
The video can be integrated into the course interface using the icon in the "Provide" column. All course participants have access to videos made available in this way.
Quick alternative: Opencast Studio
Opencast Studio is a web-based recording control system that allows you to record your PC screen - optionally with a camera image - without installing additional software.
Opencast is integrated in Moodle
of the University of Siegen.
You can open Opencast Studio in a Moodle course with lecturer rights using the "Record video" function. To do this, you must be connected to the university network or via VPN
be connected. With this option, the video can be transferred directly to the Moodle course after completion.
Alternatively, you can also save the video on your computer and then use it as desired.
