About the Lecture
“An Export-Oriented Nation’s Dependence on Imports: Challenges and Opportunities for a Secure Supply of Energy and Materials”
As an export-oriented economy, Germany is highly dependent on international supply chains and the import of key raw materials and energy sources. In times of geopolitical tensions, ongoing transformation processes, and emerging dependencies, questions arise regarding the security and resilience of these supplies. The lecture examines the challenges posed by import-dependent economic structures while also highlighting the opportunities that arise as a result.

About the Siegen Forum
The multifaceted problems of our time make it impossible to conduct scientific research solely within the academic ivory tower. Although scientific research and enlightenment cannot conjure up magic solutions or concise instructions, they are nevertheless capable of shaping many insights and decisions across all areas of society through methodological training, critical questioning, and well-considered information. Acting in difficult times requires greater reflection. At FORUM SIEGEN, therefore, we discuss problems and examine methods that are relevant to “practical application” in politics, business, and culture.
Please feel free to bring your friends to Forum Siegen.
We look forward to your participation and to lively discussions with you!
