Academic achievement Civil Society Engagement (3DEWRBA026-S2)

In the new, revised Bachelor's degree in German and European Economic Law (PO 2025), 70 hours (3 credit points) must now be completed in the area of "Civil Society Engagement". Regardless of whether it is care for the elderly, nursing, youth work, sport, culture, NGOs, trade unions, political parties, churches and, of course, activities in university committees or student initiatives: We welcome all forms of civic engagement. We want to express our appreciation of these activities for a vibrant democracy. At the same time, we are convinced that such activities are helpful for prospective business lawyers and hope that one or the other will be inspired to do more than 70 hours of civic engagement.

At Schools III in particular, students have the opportunity to get involved in one of the various student associations (Study and Consult, Refugee Law Clinic Siegen, European Law Students' Association Siegen, Siegen Business Lawyers' Association, etc.). In addition, involvement with Amnesty International, Greenpeace, the Red Cross, the DLRG or similar organizations can also be considered. Participation in legal court and negotiation simulations can also be considered as an equivalent if the corresponding number of hours have been completed.

As proof of their commitment, students must

  • provide a certificate from an appropriate institution confirming that charitable or voluntary work has been carried out.
  • prepare a project report (1 page).
  • the application
for recognition of the study achievement Civil Society Engagement.

The documents must be sent by e-mail
to Prof. Dr. Krebs, the person responsible for the module.
