Department 5.26 operates and maintains the university-wide fire and hazard alarm systems. A total of around 19 networked systems with several thousand fire and smoke detectors are in use. The systems are connected to the central building management system and a higher-level hazard management system. The fire alarm systems are signaled and controlled via the university's telecommunications and data network. Regular maintenance, inspections and technical upgrades ensure the safety of all buildings.
