The working group introduces itself

In the Psychological Assessment and Individual Differences working group, we deal with inter- and intra-individual experience and behavior in everyday life. We investigate how people perceive and evaluate their environment, situations and significant events and how they behave depending on their individual perception.

US-c

In particular, we conduct diary and experience sampling studies as well as experiments and twin studies. In addition, we develop and validate test procedures to record psychological characteristics such as study aptitude, personality traits or motivation. A list of publications can be found on the websites of the respective employees.

More information about the members of the working group, consultation hours and contact information can be found further down on this page.

Psychological Assessment and Individual Differences is represented in various courses in both the Bachelor's and Master's degree programs. We also supervise theses in this area. Further information can be found here.

The working group also manages the Psychology Department's test library. Information about the test library can be found here.

Thank you for your interest in psychological diagnostics and differential psychology!

Start of the NaviDay study at the University of Siegen

Our study “How do people navigate their everyday lives?” (NaviDay) launched in January. In the NaviDay study, we investigate how people shape their everyday situations and how this relates to characteristics of their personality as well as features of the situations themselves. Participation takes place via smartphone and includes an initial questionnaire as well as brief daily surveys over a period of 14 days. In the first survey phase, households in Siegen were randomly selected and invited to participate via flyers. Flyer distribution will continue until February 20, 2026.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all participants!

Current studies

We continuously conduct studies both online and in the laboratory.

Interested parties are welcome to participate or register for the studies via the following links. Subject hours can be allocated to students of the University of Siegen via Sona (0.25 subject hours = 15 minutes of study participation).

Digital certificates can be issued for students from other universities. In this case, please clarify in advance whether these certificates are recognized by your university.

The Personality and Contextualized Experiences (PACE) study examines inter-individual differences in changes in behaviour and experience over time and in different situations. The three-part study lasts up to 30 days. Please only participate if you are available for the entire study period. Psychology students at the University of Siegen can register for the study via SONA: https: //uni-siegen.sona-systems.com. If you have any questions about the study, you are welcome to contact us by e-mail at psy.dynamics@hu-berlin.de
.

You can receive up to 9 VP hours, a chance to win 100 euros and individual feedback. For example, we will tell you what place or activity you spend the most time in, when and where you are happiest and how your stress levels change within a day or over a week.

Part 1 takes no longer than an hour and must be completed on a computer. In this part you answer various questions about your personality and your daily life. In Part 2, you will receive several short surveys per day via SMS or e-mail (depending on your preference) over the course of 14 or 28 days, depending on the condition you are randomly assigned to. The surveys, which should take less than 4 minutes each, contain questions about your current experience and behavior as well as your situation. Part 3 also takes a maximum of one hour and must be completed on a computer. In this part, you again answer questions about your personality, your well-being and your experiences with Part 2 of the study.

As part of the pilot study, a city map for Siegen will be created in which regular surveys on the perception of public spaces will be carried out. Participants will receive a link by email at regular intervals, which they can use to rate the current public space they are in. In the long term, suitable measures for urban development can be derived on the basis of these evaluations.
