The Bachelor's thesis can only be started once all modules of the first three semesters have been successfully completed in accordance with the course schedule. It should be started no later than four weeks after passing all other examinations of the Bachelor's degree program. Three copies of the Bachelor's thesis must be submitted to the Examination Board by the deadline; the submission date must be recorded. If the Bachelor's thesis is not submitted on time, it will be graded as "insufficient" (5.0). In addition, an electronic version of the Bachelor's thesis (without password protection) must be submitted on a suitable storage medium for the plagiarism check.
The Bachelor's thesis accounts for 12 credit points of the Bachelor's degree program.
The application for admission to the Bachelor's thesis must be submitted in writing to the Examination Board.

If the Bachelor's thesis is to be completed at an institution outside the university, the approval of the Chair of the Examination Board is required.
The Bachelor's thesis must be submitted to the Examination Office both as an electronic version in the form of a PDF file on a suitable storage medium and as a single copy in bound written form; this copy forms the basis of the assessment by the assessors. In addition, the Bachelor's thesis must be submitted in full with all attachments (e.g. elementary analyses, spectra, diffractograms, program code, models, technical drawings, circuit diagrams) in electronic, searchable form. The electronic form can be used to check individual authorship using plagiarism checking software.
The passages in the thesis that are taken from other works in terms of wording or meaning must be identified, stating the source of the borrowing. The candidate must add a written declaration to the thesis stating that he or she has written the thesis independently and has not used any sources or aids other than those specified and that citations have been identified:
"I declare that I have prepared the written work independently and have not used any aids other than those specified. I have clearly identified all passages that are taken from other works in terms of wording or meaning (including translations) as borrowings in each individual case, stating the exact source (including the World Wide Web as well as generative AI and other electronic data collections). This also applies to attached drawings, pictorial representations, sketches and the like. I acknowledge that the proven omission of the indication of origin will be regarded as attempted deception".
