Didactics of the German language

German Studies Seminar

We research and teach on theoretical, methodological and empirical issues relating to the acquisition and teaching of language skills from elementary school to university. We focus on areas such as writing, spelling, grammar, vocabulary, language in the subject, digital communication and German as a second language.

One focus of our research is the investigation of "learning arrangements", i.e. complex learning task settings.

Research profile

The team at the Chair of Didactics of the German Language deals with theoretical and empirical questions relating to the acquisition and teaching of language skills from elementary school to university, focusing on writing didactics, vocabulary didactics and linguistic and subject-related learning.

One exemplary concern is the investigation of the effects of "learning arrangements" on the oral and written acquisition of subject and language skills in various school subjects, year groups and school types.
