Girls' Day & Boys' Day
The nationwide Girls' Day
and Boys' Day
open up new perspectives for young people's future careers every year. The aim of the campaign days is to break down role clichés and gender stereotypes in career choices and open up new perspectives. The Office for Equal Opportunities at the University of Siegen organizes exciting workshops together with the Schools and dedicated employees. Girls can discover courses of study in which women are rarely represented - for example in natural sciences or economics. Boys can gain insights into subject areas in which men have been underrepresented to date, for example in education, art, architecture or social professions.

In the Department of Mechanical Engineering, the focus was on technology in all its facets: After a short lecture, the participants built their own electric motor and explored the labs. The boys tried their hand at music in the workshop on primary school teaching, made music together with instruments, percussion and software such as Ableton Live and gained an insight into student life during a campus tour.
