The Chair of Modern and Contemporary History at the University of Siegen focuses on European history and its colonial roots, particularly in North America. A central aspect is transnational research on British-German relations from industrialization to the end of the Second World War. Under the direction of Prof. Dr. Angela Schwarz, questions of cultural, social and mental history as well as media strategies for the popularization of history are examined. Traditional and digital media, whose importance has grown considerably over the last four decades, are being examined in particular.
