Why learn sign language?

German Sign Language (DGS) enables you to communicate directly with deaf people and discover their world. In our courses, you will learn how to sign words, sentences and everyday communication in a practical way while practicing non-verbal forms of expression.

Those who have mastered DGS can apply what they have learned directly, e.g. in projects in the field of inclusion, education or social work. Learning sign language therefore means discovering a new way of communicating and broadening your personal and professional perspectives.

Admission criteria

Students on teacher training courses with a focus on special needs, social work and psychology with a higher semester in their Bachelor's and/or Master's degree are admitted first. Students admitted in this way take part in a survey on course motivation. If places become available after this process, they will be reallocated. Admission criteria then include the number of semesters and the degree program.

Please note the terms used in unisono:

admitted = you are admitted and have a place on the course.

Waiting list = You do not currently have a place on the course, but are on the waiting list. If you get a place, you will be set to "admitted".

Registered = You are only registered for the course. Your registration is currently being processed. You do not currently have a place on the course.

canceled = Your registration has been canceled.

Important: Only come to courses to which you are admitted.

If you are admitted to a course, you will see this in unisono. You will also receive an e-mail with further information to your student e-mail address in good time before the course starts.
