onSET test

onSET as a placement test for English courses

The onSET is a language placement test in C-test format. It makes it possible to determine global language competence in English. Before attending an English course at the Language Center, all new participants with previous knowledge of English first take the onSET language placement test. Depending on the result, they are then assigned to a course at the appropriate level.

Please register for an English course ("desired course", your personal assessment) via unisono during the registration phases. You will then receive further information about the placement test by e-mail (procedure, date, etc.). If you have a valid proof/certificate of your English language skills, a placement test is not necessary (e.g. TOEFL, TOEIC, IELTS, Cambridge, UNIcert).

onSET for stays abroad - Global Exchange

The onSET test is offered for English as part of the application process for studies and internships abroad.

For Global Exchange, there are dates agreed with the ISA departmentduring the application phases
for the application phases:

• Friday, May 22, 11:00 a.m.
• Wednesday, May 27, 11:00 a.m.
• Wednesday, May 27, 1:00 p.m.

onSET for other foreign and study purposes

These dates for the onSET language test are offered in the summer semester for all other study abroad and study purposes:

• Friday, May 22, 11:00 a.m.
• Wednesday, May 27, 11:00 a.m.
• Wednesday, May 27, 1:00 p.m.

Registration up to one week before the test date exclusively by e-mail to: andrea.suessmann@spz.uni-siegen.de

Please note: An onSET test can only be repeated if there is proof that a language course/language stay to improve language skills has taken place.
