FAIR Research Data Management with Coscine

With Coscine, researchers from all faculties can organize their project data in a secure environment, enrich it with metadata and store it FAIR for up to ten years. The platform also enables collaborative data work and flexible role management, where external project participants can also be given access to the data.

Coscine is a Research Data Management platform that supports the active project phase as well as the subsequent archiving of research and metadata. The storage infrastructure DataStorage.nrw (of the country of North-Rhine Westphalia) provides redundant, secure object storage.

Researchers at the University of Siegen automatically receive 100 GB of web storage per project; larger amounts of data can be requested via an application procedure. Data is stored via the secure, S3-compatible DataStorage.nrw infrastructure.

Please note: Coscine is not a publication or long-term repository in the sense of traditional repositories! No DOIs are assigned to the data as persistent identifiers. There is no long-term archiving beyond 10 years. Research data is not published automatically; open publication is not an integral part of the platform.

Coscine is therefore a supplementary service to existing services such as the university research data repository FoDaSi.
