International Summer School MINATO 2026 - Micro & Nano-Technologies in Toulouse
The International Summer School MINATO is an international, practice-oriented summer program in the field of micro- and nanotechnologies. The program will take place in summer 2026 at the AIME Center - Pôle CNFM in Toulouse and is aimed at students of natural sciences and engineering.
The aim of the summer school is to combine theoretical foundations with intensive practical laboratory work. Participants gain a sound insight into modern production and analysis methods in micro- and nanotechnology and work under real cleanroom conditions.
Content and focus
The program combines lectures, laboratory exercises and project work. Depending on the duration of the program chosen, students can focus on different topics, including
-
Microelectronics and MOS technology
-
Energy generation and storage
-
Nano-chemistry and sensor systems
-
Quantum and sensor technologies (in the extended program)
A key component of the Summer School is the high practical component. Participants manufacture their own micro- and nanostructured components in the clean room and gain practical experience along the entire manufacturing process.
Duration and certificates of achievement
The Summer School is offered in two versions:
-
Two-week program with 5 ECTS credits
-
Four-week program with 10 ECTS credits
The courses are taught entirely in English. Depending on the respective examination regulations, the ECTS credits earned can be credited to the degree program.
Target group
The program is aimed at Bachelor's and Master's students as well as doctoral candidates from the fields of physics, chemistry, materials science, electrical engineering and related courses. Basic scientific knowledge and a good command of English are required.
Supporting program
In addition to the academic program, the Summer School offers a cultural program with insights into the region of Toulouse and southern France. This includes excursions, company visits and joint social activities.
Application and further information
The application is made online. Interested students must submit proof of enrolment and a letter of motivation. The application deadline is usually in spring.
