About the person
Prof. Dr. C. Dockweiler stands for evidence-based and consistently user-oriented design of digital transformation in the healthcare sector. His scientific profile combines public health, health communication and technology acceptance research with questions of implementation, governance and regulation of digital innovations.
He studied Health Communication and Public Health at Bielefeld University, where he completed his doctorate in Public Health on the acceptance of telemedicine applications. As a junior professor, he headed the Center for ePublic Health at the Schools of Health Sciences. Today, he holds the Chair of Digital Public Health at the Department of Social Sciences at the University of Siegen.
His research focuses on the impact, acceptance, implementation and sustainable integration of digital health applications in prevention, health promotion and healthcare. The focus is on questions of user orientation, digital health literacy, care and implementation research as well as the regulatory and ethical framing of digital innovations.
He is the founder and former spokesperson of the Digital Public Health division of the German Society for Public Health (DGPH). He is also involved in national and international scientific societies, including the German Society for Health Telematics (DGG) and the International Society for Telemedicine and eHealth (ISfTeH). He is a member of the Academic Advisory Board for Online Services of the German Association of Statutory Health Insurance Funds (vdek) and contributes his expertise in particular on issues relating to the certification of digital prevention services, AI-supported applications and regulatory requirements. He also acts as an expert, advisory board member and scientific advisor in national and international contexts.
