So-called "behavioral addictions", such as computer game addiction, (internet) shopping addiction and/or internet sex addiction (internet pornography addiction), have hardly been researched to date and there is comparatively little knowledge about their development, maintenance and treatment. Furthermore, there is a controversial debate as to whether the behaviors described above constitute an addiction or an independent mental disorder. Or are these behaviors not rather a "bad habit" or even completely unproblematic? At the same time, there are many people affected and their social environment who suffer massively from these behaviors. In a current research project, the above-mentioned questions are to be critically examined. In particular, the development and maintenance of (internet) sex addiction (or pornography addiction) will be investigated.
