If in doubt, please contact your lecturers and plan your credits in good time. Please also note the information on the Bachelor's thesis below.
Plan your further course of study and take advantage of the advice offered by the phil: Student Advisory Service.
If you need a module element for your degree for which no offer is available, please contact the phil: unisono team as early as possible during the orientation and documentation phase(s).
Important: We strongly recommend that you initiate the change of examination regulations for the winter semester 2025/26. This applies in particular to students in the following subjects
- Extended core subject Media Studies (PO 2011)
- Extended core subject History (PO 2013)
- Core subject Art History (PO 2016)
- as well as all students planning to change subject and/or model.
A change of subject/model in the summer semester is always associated with a notification of placement in a higher semester (>1). This requires at least 15 credit points for the new subject. This is not required in the winter semester.
Procedure for changing the PO:
1. contact the Student Advisory Service and apply for recognition of credits already earned and, if necessary, for placement in a higher semester (if necessary).
2.a) Study model and/or subject/subjects are not identical: Transfer to the winter semester via unisono by 19.09.2025 at the latest!
2.b) Study model and subject/subjects are identical: Contact the Registrar's Office by e-mail , stating your matriculation number, and apply for the change of examination regulations for the winter semester by 19.09.2025!
3. report to the Examinations Office (pruefungsamt@phil.uni-siegen.de)after the transfer has been completed. Your clerk will promptly post the recognized credits based on the recommendations of the subject representatives.
You have 10 or 14 weeks to complete your Bachelor's thesis. If you fall ill during the writing period, you can apply for an extension of up to 14 days. These two weeks are already included in the following registration deadlines:
- non-empirical (10 weeks): 09.12.2025 | processing time: 06.01.2026 - 17.03.2026
- Empirical (14 weeks) 11.11.2025 | Processing time: 09.12.2025 - 17.03.2026
If you wish to write your Bachelor's thesis in the core subject of Art History, the Bachelor's thesis must be submitted by 31.01.2026 at the latest (AM 2/2023 § 1 paragraph 4). Different deadlines therefore apply for the core subject of Art History! Here, too, you can apply for an extension of up to 14 days in the event of illness. These two weeks are already included in the following application deadlines:
- non-empirical (10 weeks): 07.11.2025 | processing time: 07.11.2025 - 16.01.2026
- Empirical (14 weeks): 12.09.2025 | processing time: 10.10.2025 - 16.01.2026
The following applies to all Bachelor's theses: If the above deadlines are not met, graduation by 31.03.2026 cannot be guaranteed. If the deadline falls in the summer semester, you must re-register for the new examination regulations and have the work already completed recognized. Please note that not all credits may be recognized due to changes in the course structure.
You can find further information on the requirements, formalities, etc. here.
Under the new examination regulations, History can only be studied in combination with at least one supplementary subject (Model B or D) or another core subject (Model C). Find out about possible combinations and study models and make sure you take advantage of the advice offered by the phil: student advisory service to plan your further course of study together.
It is strongly recommended that you switch to the winter semester 2025/26!
The core subject Art History can only be studied as a supplementary subject in Model B and Model D in the updated examination regulations. Find out about possible combinations and study models and make sure you take advantage of the advice offered by the phil: student advisory service.
It is strongly recommended that you switch to the winter semester 2025/26!
Under the new examination regulations, Media Studies can only be studied in combination with at least one supplementary subject (Model B or D) or another core subject (Model C). Find out about possible combinations and study models and take advantage of the advice offered by the phil: Student Advisory Service.
Students from the extended core subject (PO 2011) can choose from the new supplementary subjects in Media Studies:
It is strongly recommended to change to the winter semester 2025/26!
Literature, Culture, Media
In Model A, 3 languages must be chosen in the subject LKM. If you are currently studying in the extended core subject LKM (research-oriented), you must either add another language or switch to model B (with supplementary subject), for example.
In Model B you must choose 2 languages and in Model C & D (in the core subject) 1 language.
Language & Communication
In models A and B, 2 languages must be chosen; in C & D, 1 language in the core subject.
If you need to change models due to the language focus, e.g. because you are currently studying in the research-oriented model LKM and do not wish to add another language, we strongly recommend changing to the winter semester! Advice is available from the phil: Student Advisory Service.
We recommend changing to the winter semester 2025/26 - especially if you have to change models!
Find out about the new combination models.
The models can be compared as follows:
Study models of the old PO |
Study models of the new PO |
---|---|
Extended core subject (research-oriented study model) |
Model A: 1-subject |
Core/supplementary subject (combined study model) |
Model B: Core/supplementary subject |
Core/core subject (subject-oriented study model) |
Model C: Core/core subject |
-- |
Model D: Core subject with 2 supplementary subjects |
In the Bachelor's degree programs, it is only possible to start studying in the summer semester from the 2nd semester onwards, i.e. when choosing a new subject, you must provide proof of at least 15 credit points in this subject.
Please submit the application for placement in a higher semester together with the application for recognition to the relevant subject representatives in good time. Based on the credits already earned, the subject representatives will make a recommendation for placement. The Examinations Office will then issue you with a certificate that you can use to transfer via unisono.
You can find the application for transfer under the tab "My studies" | "Transfer/change of subject/online application".
All students who change to the new examination regulations must submit an application for recognition of credits already earned for their respective subjects. If you (have to) change subject, you will also need the application for placement in a higher semester.
Complete the application(s) in full and send it (them) together with a transcript of records to the relevant subject representative. A separate application must be submitted for each subject or degree program; recognition for the Studium Generale takes place via the core subject.
If you need advice, please contact the subject representatives and/or the phil: Student Advisory Service.
