European Master on Embedded Intelligence Nanosystems Engineering (EMINENT)

At the Chair of High-Frequency Engineering and Quantum Electronics (HQE), we are one of five European partner universities participating in the EMINENT Master’s program. The program trains the next generation of interdisciplinary experts in intelligent sensor systems and IoT-based technologies.

Project Description

The terahertz frequency range (1 THz = 10¹² Hz) lies in the electromagnetic spectrum between microwave and infrared radiation. Research on these frequencies conducted at the HQE Chair serves as a key interface for the development of smart sensor technology within the EMINENT project.

The EMINENT program is structured as a vertical process chain: from functional nanomaterials through sensors to operational systems that interconnect physical and virtual objects (Internet of Things).

Contributions of the HQE Chair

  • Focus on sensor technology and data analysis in the second semester

  • Research interfaces with THz systems and photonic components

  • Close collaboration with the Center for Sensor Systems (ZESS)

  • Member of the ATHENA European University Network

Industry Partners

Our industry partners are closely involved in the EMINENT program by

• teaching courses in specific modules

• proposing topics for master’s theses and accepting students so that they can conduct their research at their institutions

• providing advisors for master’s theses

• providing recommendations for improving the curriculum and course content in line with current market demands

• delivering guest lectures as part of the Winter School and Summer School
