Ethnographic participation research

Teaching research project in the Master's program in Education and Social Work

Studierende in der Stadt

In two three-semester research seminars, students used participant observation to investigate how participation is produced. The first seminar analyzed how access to social practices of civic engagement is created. It became clear how very specific social practices enable or hinder "new" access.
In the second seminar, those participation practices that remain hidden from the participants' explicit explanations will be explored.
