The aim of the Master's degree program in Social Work is to acquire sound specialist knowledge and skills for activities in the areas of management, planning and development in socio-educational fields of work. The Master's degree program also opens up further opportunities for a scientific academic career (social pedagogical doctorate following the Master's degree). The broad academic perspective is to be deepened in one of three focus areas - "Challenges in child and youth welfare", "Participation of people with disabilities" or "Social work and crime". This should enable graduates to develop a (customizable) socio-educational profile.

Although the Bachelor's degree in social work and the associated state recognition as a social pedagogue is regarded as the standard qualification in social work, relevant studies indicate that an individual combination of higher qualifications (Master's degree), specific further training and practical experience can further increase career opportunities in social work. The Student Representative Councils (FSRe) are the student representation of Interests at departmental level, in our case of Bachelor's and Master's Social Work. We represent the interests and concerns of the students of our subject both internally (students, faculty council, dean's office, lecturers) and externally (public). This means that your fellow students are waiting for you when you come to the office.
