Events are assigned credit units (CU), which are based, among other factors, on the time required: 45 minutes = 1 CU. The CUs can be found on the respective event pages. Please bear with us as we are currently building the event archive.

The specific registration requirements for each event in the LehramtPLUS continuing education program can be found on the event pages in the LehramtPLUS event calendar.   Binding registration must generally be completed by one week before the start of the respective event via unisono; individual events—including those offered by partner institutions—may have different requirements.

  • Alumni can register by emailing lehramtplus@zlb.uni-siegen.de to make up any missing coursework required for certificate completion or to request a certificate update via email.
  • Participants in LehrkräftePLUS can register for all LehramtPLUS events; to do so, please send an email to lehramtplus@zlb.uni-siegen.de and lehrkräfteplus@zlb.uni-siegen.de.
  • External interested parties may be allowed to participate as guests if space is available and they have a connection to education; to do so, please send a message to lehramtplus@zlb.uni-siegen.de. Diverse learning communities foster cross-phase exchange in teacher education and are warmly welcomed!

In the event of an unexpected absence, early cancellation is required so that the vacated spots can be reassigned.

Upon successful completion of an event, a certificate of participation will be issued, stating the title, duration, and content of the event. The procedures for issuing certificates of participation will be announced at the start of each event. As a general rule, certificates of participation are issued digitally and sent via email upon request. For LehramtPLUS events, please send your request to lehramtplus@zlb.uni-siegen.de; for collaborative events, please contact the respective partners.

With the LehramtPLUS certificate, teacher education students can obtain official recognition of the continuing education they have completed alongside their studies and document their participation in the ZLB’s supplementary programs.

For all events taking place as part of LehramtPLUS, a creditable time commitment is specified in work units (WU). To earn the certificate, students must complete 48 AE, which can be earned over several semesters and across both the bachelor’s and master’s programs. Of these, at least 4 must be workshops from the LehramtPLUS program. The remaining AE can be earned through any other (collaborative) courses.

Priorregistration for the certificate is not required.

To apply for the certificate, please send the completed application form with the supporting documents bundled into a single PDF attachment to lehramtplus@zlb.uni-siegen.de. Once your certificate has been issued, you will receive a digital version via email and a printed copy by mail.

Nothing Exists Without Context—Dealing with “Difficult” Students and Challenging Situations

Presenter: Olaf Albert (teacher, hypno-systemic counselor, PEP® coach)
LehramtPLUS Workshop Series

When tried-and-true pedagogical approaches reach a plateau, the focus often narrows to the “problem.” This workshop invites participants to step out of the collective “problem trance” and view behavior as a circular form of communication. One focus is on hypnosystemic attention management: How does one’s own inner state (self-regulation) influence classroom dynamics? We’ll develop strategies for emotion regulation to enable co-regulation through professional presence and create space for de-escalation. Instead of fixating on changing the student, we focus on breaking patterns and utilizing existing resources. “If something works, do more of it. If not, break the pattern and experiment with something new.”

• Registration deadline: 1 week before the event date (max. 20 participants).

• To receive a certificate of participation, please send an email to lehramtplus@zlb.uni-siegen.de.

Images of Masculinity in Counseling, Prevention, and Schools

Speaker: Daniel Schulte (ksd Boys’ & Men’s Counseling, Olpe)
LehramtPLUS Workshop Series (Event Series: Manosphere—Anti-Feminism in Schools)

This short workshop examines current images of masculinity from the perspective of counseling for boys and men, prevention work, and schools. The focus is on how educational professionals can address derogatory, insecure, or violence-legitimizing concepts of masculinity without shaming participants—but also without letting problematic statements go unchallenged. Drawing on practical experience from the KSD Olpe’s counseling services for boys and men, concrete strategies for action in schools and educational settings will be presented and tested. This also involves creating safe spaces for sensitive discussions, setting boundaries, building relationships, and protecting those who may be affected.

Taking a Clear Stand Instead of Remaining Silent: “The Principle of Neutrality” and Schools

Speaker: Pierre Stoltenfeldt (theater educator at the Apollo Theater in Siegen)
DiversiTeach and LehramtPLUS Workshop Series (Event Series: Schools in a Democracy—How Neutral Must a Teacher Be?)

Who isn’t familiar with that nagging uncertainty, especially when just starting out in a career? As a teacher, am I allowed to express my own opinions in class, or do I have to remain “neutral”? How should I react when students, colleagues, or parents express controversial, polarizing, or inhumane views? What does neutrality actually mean in the context of school? In this theater-based educational workshop, we’ll explore the “requirement of neutrality” and the associated doubts, fears, and gray areas of a teacher’s life in a playful and practical way. Together, we’ll examine pressing questions: How much of my own perspective am I allowed—or required—to express? Where (don’t) the legal boundaries lie? And how do I overcome speechlessness in difficult situations? After an introductory discussion, we’ll use the techniques of forum theater (Augusto Boal) and improvisational theater to work through specific scenarios from everyday school life: A student shouts right-wing slogans in the schoolyard, parents confront a teacher about their political stance, a colleague complains about “left-wing indoctrination” among the teaching staff—participants are welcome to share their own experiences, concerns, and observations at any time. In an open, respectful, and non-judgmental space, we’ll explore possible courses of action together, reflect on their effects, and build the courage and confidence to take a stand and overcome silence. Legal principles will serve as a guide. The workshop is aimed at prospective teachers who seek greater confidence, clarity, and flexibility in addressing political and social issues in a school setting. The workshop is led by Pierre Stoltenfeldt, a theater educator at the Apollo Theater and the Bruchwerk Theater, who has been working with people of all ages for many years on acting, improvisational theater, and social issues.

Using Multilingualism as a Resource for the Academic Writing Process

Speakers: Ute Reimers, M.A., and Dr. Sonja Sälzer (ZefaS – Center for Academic Writing)
Offered by ZefaS as part of the peer writing tutor training program

The following workshop is part of a series in which each session addresses a key aspect of academic writing during one’s studies. Student teachers can apply the insights gained in this workshop to writing in the classroom, particularly with regard to the multilingualism of their future students. In this session, we will explore the extent to which multilingualism can be leveraged as a resource when writing academic texts. We will begin by defining what we mean by “multilingualism” and becoming aware of our own repertoire of linguistic resources, which goes beyond a categorization of first, second, and foreign languages. Building on this, we’ll examine how multilingualism makes writing academic texts during college more complex and what strategies might help alleviate this challenge. Afterward, we’ll discuss how we can specifically apply multilingual competencies to academic writing.

• Registration for the workshop takes place via unisono as part of the registration process for the entire ZefaS workshop series; participants may attend individual sessions of the series (see below).

• Certificates of participation can be requested from ZefaS.

Migrant Men, Masculinity, and the Media—On the Construction and Function of Narratives

Speaker: Fikri Anıl Altıntas (Author and HeForShe Germany UN Ambassador)
LehramtPLUS Lecture Series (Event Series: Manosphere—Anti-Feminisms in Schools)

This lecture takes a critical look at the media’s portrayal of masculinities associated with migration. It focuses on the origins and impact of stereotypical narratives in journalism, film, and pop culture. Using historical and contemporary examples, the lecture demonstrates how masculinity, violence, and otherness are linked and exploited for political purposes in an era of anti-feminism. The event invites participants to question these images and discuss diversity, representation, and gender equality in a post-migrant society.

Researching and Teaching with AI

Speakers: Oliver Hahm (ZFH), Veronika Lichtenwald (UB), Katharina Fritsch (UB)
LehramtPLUS Workshop Series

How is AI changing the way we handle information, learn, and teach? How can I navigate this change professionally? In the workshop “Researching and Teaching with AI,” we’ll show you how to use generative AI tools in teaching in a conscious, reflective, and goal-oriented way. We’ll explore how AI supports source and material research and where its limitations, risks, and pitfalls lie. Through hands-on exercises, we’ll practice using AI to plan lessons, create materials, and adapt assignments for different learning groups. Furthermore, we’ll explore the extent to which AI influences, on the one hand, the understanding of the roles of learners and teachers, and on the other hand, the potential of learning formats and learning environments. The six-hour workshop (including breaks) offers plenty of time for discussion, experimentation, and asking your own questions. Feel free to bring specific examples you’d like to work on!

Taking a Stand and Remaining Neutral in Schools—How Do These Two Go Together?

Speaker: Manfred Diekenbrock (GEW Education Officer, former teacher)
DiversiTeach and LehramtPLUS workshop series, event series: Schools in a Democracy—How Neutral Must a Teacher Be?

News reports about wars and conflicts between nations and within society are alarming. At the same time, many teachers are afraid to speak out on political issues in the classroom. This event addresses the requirement for teachers to remain neutral, as they must perform their duties fairly and be open to differing viewpoints. What does it mean in practice when the school law does not tolerate “political, religious, ideological, or similar expressions” that “endanger or disrupt the neutrality of the state or harmony in the school”? How can teachers defend democracy and reject racism and anti-Semitism without violating the required neutrality? What is meant when the “Beutelsbach Consensus” highlights the controversial nature of political education? This workshop is designed to help clarify these and other questions. In addition to legal and pedagogical principles, numerous real-world examples will serve as illustrative aids.

On Feminism and Its Opponents

Speaker: Eve Obier (University of Erlangen-Nuremberg)
LehramtPLUS Lecture Series (Event Series: Manosphere—Anti-Feminisms in Schools)

Feminism is one of the most successful social movements. It brought about suffrage, the end of the so-called “housewife marriage,” and many institutional and societal changes that significantly influenced the lives of women and queer people. Yet these hard-won achievements are increasingly being called into question: Ongoing attacks on bodily autonomy and the desire for a return to the “tradwife” accompany the idea of a “male loneliness epidemic.” But what is really behind these phenomena? Nearly 50 years after Klaus Theweleit’s seminal analysis of masculinity, *Männerphantasien* (1977), the idea of the “strong man” still persists in people’s minds. It unites groups, institutions, and ideologies that, apart from this, are marked by significant differences.

De-escalation Training – Mindful Conflict Resolution

Instructor: Bahman Pournazari (Certified Social Educator, Anti-Violence Trainer, Certified Mediator, Certified Kickboxing Trainer)
LehramtPLUS Workshop Series

Conflicts in everyday educational settings are often viewed as something that can be resolved primarily through subject-matter knowledge and rational argumentation. Yet this is precisely where a common misconception lies: In moments of heightened tension, our knowledge often goes out the window. Cognitive abilities such as analysis and shifting perspectives are blocked—our nervous system switches from rational thinking to impulsive action. In such situations, automatic reaction patterns take the lead: Fight, Flight, Freeze, and Fawn. Educational professionalism therefore requires not only expertise but, above all, the ability to self-regulate. Mindful conflict resolution views conflicts not as disruptions but as opportunities for self-reflection and for further developing one’s own authentic, professional presence. This approach fosters an attitude that has an impact both internally and externally: engaged, clear, stable, and free from impulsive reactivity.

Reflecting on Future Skills for a Society Facing Multiple Crises—Liberation in Dystopia?

Speaker: Prof. Dr. Robert Pfützner, HSAP Berlin

Cooperation offer from connect4future

The concept of future skills stems from a business-oriented and, in a sense, future-optimistic milieu that assumes current social trends will persist into the future. Although “disruption” and “radical change” are taken into account, this line of thinking remains fundamentally rooted in economic growth and a market-based economy within the framework of globalized nation-states. However, it remains questionable whether this is the framework within which our future will unfold. The multiple crises we find ourselves in (global warming, species extinction, massive social inequalities, the erosion of liberal democracies and international law, etc.) seem to call into question the current concept of future skills. Perhaps schools, teacher training, and pedagogy in general need to approach the question of the future in a radically different way. What challenges will we face in the coming dystopian future, which may turn out to be completely different after all? And: does dystopia automatically mean “worse”? Perhaps there is also a moment (or several moments) of liberation and emancipation within dystopia? Drawing on the work of philosopher Bruno Latour and literary and cultural scholar Peggy Piesche, I aim to develop theses on an alternative form of future skills. These skills are primarily characterized by a commitment to caring for one another and for the Earth, and to ensuring human survival with dignity, as well as a critical stance toward power and discrimination. These theses will be discussed with the participants at the end of the session.

Traumatized Children and Adolescents in School and the Classroom

Presenter: Katja Liever-Manthey (special education teacher with an FSP ESE certification working in a special education school for ESE students and in inclusive settings; lecturer on special education support and inclusion at the Institute for Teacher Training)
LehramtPLUS Workshop Series

It is not only children and adolescents who have experienced war or displacement who can be affected by trauma—other experiences (including violence) can also leave lasting scars. In school, these stresses often manifest as unpredictable behavior and are frequently perceived as behavioral problems or a need for special education support. This poses a particular challenge for prospective teachers: they must act professionally while navigating a balance between care, uncertainty, and feeling overwhelmed. This event provides fundamental knowledge about the origins of trauma and its effects on the inner experiences and behavior of children and adolescents. In addition, the event explores how schools can become more trauma-informed in order to be a safe place for everyone. There is also a special focus on the role of the teacher: How can one deal with stressful situations without becoming overwhelmed oneself? What does secondary traumatization mean, and how can self-care be achieved?

The first part (Basics) introduces the core principles of generative AI. The focus will be on both the opportunities and risks—such as those related to data protection, copyright, and bias—as well as criteria for a thoughtful and responsible approach to AI-supported applications in academic studies. The second part (Advanced) focuses on practical application: Participants will expand their knowledge of prompting, test various AI-supported research tools (including licensed offerings from the Siegen University Library), and develop a sound research strategy for their own topic at various stations.

• Registration: Link to the event page (see below).

• Prerequisite: Participation in the introductory workshop of the same name on June 29, 2026.

• Certificate of Participation: You will receive your certificate via email from the University Library after the event.

Unlearning Anti-Feminism on TikTok—Methodological Approaches to Political Media Education for the Classroom

Speaker: Assistant Professor Dr. Franziska Bellinger (University of Cologne)
LehramtPLUS Workshop Series (Event Series: Manosphere—Anti-Feminisms in Schools)

A central goal of political media education is to empower young people to critically and reflectively analyze media within a political context, understand the mechanisms of political communication in the media, and actively participate in democratic discourse. Using the example of the practice-oriented research project “Unlearning Anti-Feminism on TikTok” (UlAT), this presentation will demonstrate how educational programs and open educational resources (OER) for political media literacy can be conceived, designed, tested, and evaluated. The presentation will provide insights into the project’s research and design process to demonstrate how the methods and materials developed can support young people in recognize, contextualize, and critically examine anti-feminist content (including that from the “manosphere”) on TikTok and other social media platforms. Learners are thus empowered to develop an awareness of the media manipulation strategies employed by populist and right-wing ideological actors. Following the presentation, the “TikTok Puzzle”—a core method of the project—will be tested in practice with the participants.

• Registration deadline: 1 week before the event date.

Ideas for Gender-Sensitive Pedagogy and Addressing Anti-Feminism in Schools

Speaker: Katharina Debus (speaker, consultant, and author, including in the field of teacher education)
LehramtPLUS Workshop Series (Event Series: Manosphere—Anti-Feminism in Schools)

Gender equality, the elimination of gender-based discrimination, and the acceptance of individual diversity—including in the context of gender and sexual orientations—are prerequisites for educational participation as well as for mental and physical health in schools as places of learning and living. Anti-feminism targets people who are committed to these values and thus poses a challenge to the mission of schools. Gender-sensitive pedagogy promotes individual agency and self-determination, as well as collaborative approaches to addressing challenges. It offers strategies and insights for preventing and addressing antifeminism.

The seminar begins with an overview of the goals and principles of gender-sensitive pedagogy and then focuses on addressing anti-feminism. On the one hand, we will examine which support strategies can make anti-feminist ways of thinking and interpreting the world less appealing (prevention). On the other hand, we will explore possibilities for intervention, with a particular focus on empowering people who are affected by such attacks or who are (or wish to be) committed to gender justice and the acceptance of gender, sexual, and romantic diversity.  We’ll use a mix of lectures, brief small-group discussions, and plenary discussions.

• Registration deadline: 1 week before the event date.

• To receive a certificate of participation, please send an email to lehramtplus@zlb.uni-siegen.de.
